About the Artist
Hi y’all! I’m Jaclyn Blackerby, a central Texas artist whose mission is to inspire joy through delicate watercolors that highlight everyday beauty. I draw inspiration for my work from the everyday beauty found in nature and architecture. I love to capture the details and memories that make places unique through paint. I create all my original paintings, art prints, and cards in my home studio using high quality products sourced from other small businesses in the USA whenever possible. If I’m not painting, you can find me drinking coffee, reading, doing something crafty, or travelling to gather inspiration for future paintings. Connect with me by following along with my art journey on social media or visiting my events page to meet me in person at my next pop-up event!

My Art Background
I have always loved art from a very young age. I started drawing when I was 6 years old and took art classes throughout high school. My creativity soon led me to pursue a degree in Interior Design at Texas Tech University. As part of the program I had the opportunity to take even more art classes, challenging myself with new mediums and techniques. This is where I fell in love with watercolor. Little secret: I used to hate watercolor! I didn’t like to paint with watercolor when I was little because I was the kid who actually liked to color in the lines and I felt like I couldn’t control the paint enough to get the outcome I wanted. I still had that attitude even in my first class in college that used watercolor, but after learning how to paint from some pretty awesome professors, I started to love this new medium. As someone who naturally likes to have control, it’s very freeing to embrace the unpredictability of watercolor paint – allowing it to do what it wants and add more character to my art pieces.
My Inspiration
My biggest inspiration for my art is the beauty found in God’s creation. I believe that nature reveals the true character of God and I feel closest to Him when spending time in nature and painting it. My hope is that you can find connection with my artwork and that it brings you closer to God as well.
